What is Spring Like in Squamish?

spring in squamish

As the snow begins to melt from the mountains and the weather gets warmer, Squamish offers a whole world of adventure opportunities for those living in or visiting the area.

Spring brings longer days and warmer temperatures, without the often overwhelming heat of the summer! This makes it arguably the best season for getting outside and getting active.

With snow still in the alpine, you can enjoy all your favourite activities in one day, including skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, and water sports. Here’s why we love spring in Squamish:

Longer days and warmer weather

No more short, cold days! Shake off those winter blues and take advantage of more daylight by getting outside and enjoying the area.

If you’re sick of having to wrap up everyday then you’ll be happy to know that you can start shedding those layers. On some days it’s even patio weather and you can find many locals enjoying sunset après! Sound good? Discover our favourite Squamish patios.

And that’s just the start. Longer days mean more time for activities!

So many activities

As we mentioned there is so much to do during spring with snow in the alpine and sunshine in the valley. Take this opportunity to enjoy all of your favourite activities without the yearning for the next season! No more praying for the bike trails to thaw on those average snow days!

And it’s not just the bike trails that clear up – higher elevated hiking trails are now accessible again and with 8 local provincial parks, there are a lot to choose from!

One of the biggest Squamish activities is rock climbing, with the Stawamus Chief bringing visitors from all round the world. As the temperatures rise, climbing season returns and if you haven’t tried it yet, now is the perfect time to give it a go!

With multiple rivers, lakes and oceans, it’s no surprise that Squamish offers a huge range of water sports. If you didn’t want to brave the cold waters of the winter, then take the plunge in spring!

Time to ourselves

During the summer and winter months thousands of people head up and down the Sea to Sky to experience both Whistler and Squamish. These busy seasons can often see huge crowds of people descending on the area, especially on weekends.

In the springtime however, it is much quieter and you can experience everything there is to offer in relative peace! Imagine hiking and feeling like you’re the only one there experiencing that moment! That’s exactly what Squamish is like in spring. No crowds, just you and nature.
